Another business passed me a simple furniture job: a custom sized plywood day bed, stained and varnished. There was also a small table. Love this type of job!

Kitchen Reno
I’ve almost finished a large kitchen renovation for Leanne and Jim. It all started with a desire to install a dishwasher. It turned out that they needed to lift the countertops to get a new dishwasher in there, due to too many layers of re-flooring…things grew from there so they asked me to remove a corner wall, supply new countertops, add a shelf, new black mouldings around the wall/ceiling cutouts, install the dishwasher, and tile/grout a new mosaic backsplash. And…it’s in an apartment building. It took a few weeks to get it all done. I arranged for an electrician and a plumber to help me out with the pot lights/switches and sink/dishwasher.

Outdoor cabinet with concrete countertop
Alex requested a custom cabinet for his outdoor balcony. He needed a working surface that would take some heat from a tabletop stove he has. The unit had to be somewhat weatherproof. He also asked for casters so that he could move the unit away from the wall plug if needed. So this is what I came up with!
For the countertop, I suggested concrete. I hadn’t made one before so this was my guinea pig project, but it turned out okay.
The end result was nice (“too nice to put outside,” he said). I believe it will last for a long time.

32-foot ramp
Actually it’s closer to 31 feet. Abbey Medical Supplies contracted me to help with an outdoor ramp. The customer had injured themselves and was unable to use the series of steps. I pre-cut and painted the plywood, then helped their technician install it. We were able to finish in one day.

Pride and Prejudice set
I am in the midst of another set build for Gallery 7. As usual I can’t share too much for photos, but here are a few. It is playing at Abby Arts Center in November.

Curtain Rods
Gallery 7 office needed some curtain rods so they can block off their props storage area better. One side is 16 feet and the other is 11 feet. It’s hard to take a picture 🙂 Rods are 3/4″ copper pipe, painted black.

Tub Caulking
Here’s an example of a tub I re-caulked recently. It involves removing the old caulking, scraping it off with a knife blade and cleaning with methyl hydrate, and putting a new (usually smaller) bead down. It generally takes about an hour and I include the new mildew-resistant caulking in the price.
