Kevin asked me to patch up a soffit where the birds try to get in every spring. I couldn’t match it perfectly but it will do the trick. I also took down an old electrical mast and gave the corner of the house a touch up.
While I was at it he also needed the plywood on his utility trailer replaced.
I’ve been busy building the set for Gallery 7‘s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I’ve booked off about 3 weeks to do it and have completed the first week somewhat on schedule. I won’t post too many pictures–but come see the show in March!
I got a call from someone in Las Vegas, looking for a handyman to make some steps for her parents in Abbotsford. When I finally arrived to look at the job, they had already done it, but had another one in mind. There was some water damage to their shiplap siding (even parts of the header were rotten). So I spent a couple of hours fixing it up, using some 40-year-old siding they had saved from another area. It turned out fine–now they just need to replace the door. 🙂
Noel asked for some shelves for his kids’ rooms. He had some custom ideas and I liked the look! They are white melamine with 1 3/8″ painted pine moulding surrounding.
I recently completed the set for Gallery 7‘s production of Beau Jest. Below is a link for a time lapse I made of tech week. We started with an empty room, and hung lights, crown moulding, and a chandelier; put down risers and laminate flooring, and a bit of furniture.

Alex had me make and install 3 custom shelves, stained and varnished, and all different depths.
Sally hired me to build a ramp inside the garage for walker/wheelchair access.

Ken called me about a window that broke during the windstorm. (He called around and the Glass places were too busy.) I felt bad as I was on holidays when he called, so his tenants had a taped up/boarded up window for a week or so. Anyway, I bought a whole new window with a frame (as the old frame was damaged) and replaced it.
Another business passed me a simple furniture job: a custom sized plywood day bed, stained and varnished. There was also a small table. Love this type of job!
I’ve almost finished a large kitchen renovation for Leanne and Jim. It all started with a desire to install a dishwasher. It turned out that they needed to lift the countertops to get a new dishwasher in there, due to too many layers of re-flooring…things grew from there so they asked me to remove a corner wall, supply new countertops, add a shelf, new black mouldings around the wall/ceiling cutouts, install the dishwasher, and tile/grout a new mosaic backsplash. And…it’s in an apartment building. It took a few weeks to get it all done. I arranged for an electrician and a plumber to help me out with the pot lights/switches and sink/dishwasher.
